The Three Proposed Northern RoutesThe leaked draft maps, shared privately with local community and First Nations leaders during spring consultations, outline three primary northern pathways:The Northern Path: Originates in the Fort McMurray oil sands, travels west through Fort St. John, and terminates near Observatory Inlet, a remote coastal area near the Alaska border. The Central Path: Starts northeast of Edmonton near Fort Saskatchewan, crosses the Rocky Mountains, and angles slightly north to terminate at Nasoga Gulf.The Trans-Mountain Path: Also starts near Fort Saskatchewan, travels west through the Rockies, and splits near the coast to connect with Kitimat and Prince Rupert.
