Alberta’s Wild New License Plates | Calgary News

Alberta’s launching a new wild-themed license plate featuring bighorn sheep and Mount Lougheed, with “wild strong free” emblazoned below — all to fund conservation through the Alberta Conservation Association. Priced at $75 plus $15 registration, the design by local artist Desmond McCaffrey celebrates the province’s iconic wildlife. While the government touts it as a proud step toward protecting nature, critics question Alberta’s environmental record and hunting policies. Still, the plates are hitting shelves — this is the fourth special edition, joining veteran and hockey-themed designs — and sales will determine how much cash flows into conservation efforts.
