Alderman Stijn Steenbakkers: stimulating innovation also means connecting people

Eindhoven is a hotspot for innovation and TU Eindhoven plays a key role in starting innovation. May 11th is the day that rector Prof Frank Baaijens hands over the helm to Silvia Lenaerts. In fact, Stijn Steenbakers had the honor to decorate Frank Baaijens on behalf of the Dutch King. Alderman Stijn Steenbakkers (CDA) reflects on the role of the outgoing rector for the university and for the region. We recorded the interview at the official opening of the Una Paloma Blanca language hub. Connecting people, facilitating a social life are also key elements to maintain an innovative region, as the Alderman explains. We took the opportunity to discuss the challenges of being an international city at the forefront of innovation, with all the dynamics of the large and small enterprises and the scale jump ambitions of the university.
