Aldervile joins Williams Treaty First Nations signing historic deal with Ontario Power Generation

from Consider This Northumberland

Last week, the seven First Nations of the Williams Treaty became partners with Ontario Power Generation. Together, they want to build a new Small Modular Nuclear Reactor at Darlington. The federal and provincial governments are providing loan guarantees of up to $700 million to help finance one of the four small reactors scheduled to be built. In this interview, you will hear from Alderville Chief Taynar Simpson as he outlines the deal. More importantly, you will listen as he explains his position in terms of environmental impact, consultations with his community, and the potential revenues, jobs, and opportunities for Alderville. But don’t forget these same seven members of the Williams Treaty are also engaged with the nuclear generating station near Port Hope. How will this investment impact their position with Wesleyville? Have a listen to find out the answer to this and more.
