Alecia Taylor talks FAMU student protests | The Midday Break Room w/ Tiffany Bacon - 3.24.26

from WURD Radio · host WURD Radio

Alecia Taylor is a reporter at Capital B News, a local and national nonprofit news organization with newsrooms in Atlanta & Gary. Previously, Alecia covered local government for The Kansas City Star and education for the Chronicle of Higher Education. She is a proud alumna of Howard University and a 2023 White House Correspondents’ Association Scholar. Alecia recently wrote a story about students at Florida A&M University protesting after the school signed an agreement allowing campus police to collaborate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Demonstrators argued the policy could put immigrant and international students at risk and make the university complicit in federal immigration crackdowns. The group is protesting the university’s signing of a document that allows campus police to assist federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and be trained by federal law enforcement. Alecia joins the show to further discuss the context of FAMU students protesting their university's agreement with ICE.
