But we can live up to it. That's the whole thing, is you gotta have something to live up to." 🔹 Alex received the highest civilian knighthood of the Netherlands in Nijmegen, the city where he and his brother Eddie lived before their family moved to the United States. 🔹 The honor recognizes outstanding achievements in areas including the arts, science, sport, and literature. 🔹 The 73-year-old musician received the decoration at Radboud University, presented by Nijmegen mayor Hubert Bruls. 🔹 After the ceremony, Alex spoke about the honor, saying he was very grateful and that it gives people something to “live up to.” 🔹 Alex and Eddie were both born in Amsterdam, while their father Jan was a musician and their mother Eugenia was born in Indonesia. 🔹 In 1962, the Van Halen family moved to the United States, settling in Pasadena, California — where Alex and Eddie would go on to change rock music forever. 🤘 🇳🇱 A remarkable honor for one of rock's greatest drummers — and a proud moment for the Van Halen family. #AlexVanHalen #VanHalen #EddieVanHalen #ExclusivelyVanHalen
