Aliens Stunned as Humans Swim in Deadly Saltwater Ocean

from Short SciFi Stories on the go · host Kelli Korner

Commander Zixer S3I's widened in shock as he watched the human specimen walk straight toward the edge of the crystalline deathpool. We can't let an entire human delegation die in front of us, but before the teleportation sequence could activate, something unbelievable happened, the humans dove straight into the water. We labelled it a death-world category, seven, toxic oceans, dangerous life forms, unstable weather, but if humans evolved in saltwater like this, then they didn't just survive, interrupted physician Claire, her scientific curiosity, now outweighing her fear, they thrived in it. For the next three days, the station continued observing the humans, they surfed, snorkeled, built sandcastles, and gathered shells, children laughed in the toxic spray, elderly humans waded peacefully through the surf. Do not attempt to protect humans from hazards they find enjoyable, their definition of recreation may involve substances lethal to others, as the human ship prepared to depart, Captain Vasquez sent a final transmission.
