Passage: Ephesians 2:1-10 Intro: 1. Theme of 2024 is Press On—moving towards spiritual maturity, growing in our relationship with Jesus. a. Am I moving forward towards spiritual maturity? b. Am I building into what has eternal value? 2. In the letter to the Ephesians, Paul shares how we were made alive in Christ. a. Why do we need to see all these things? Because you have to know whether you are on the right road. Whether you are even on the road of being alive in Christ or you’re actually digging a ditch for your own grave and fooling yourself that you are alive. 3. How did God make us alive in Christ? a. We need to see where we came from. b. We need to see what being alive in Christ looks like. c. We need to see how he did it. 1. We need to see where we came from Vs 1-3 a. Spiritually dead i. Does not know God ii. Ignorant of spiritual things b. Spiritually dead because of our self-centered nature i. It's innate 2. We need to see what being alive in Christ looks like vs 7-10 a. You desire Holiness b. How do I know? i. Conviction that God is taking hold of you ii. Your eyes are enlightened to spiritual things iii. You are aware of your new nature c. He shapes us through i. The Holy Spirit ii. The Word iii. The Preaching of the Word iv. Circumstances and Disciplines 3. We need to see how he made us alive vs 4-6 a.
