This week on the One Year No Beer Podcast Ruari and Jen welcome OYNB member Claire Holiday.     During the conversation, Claire discusses her relationship with alcohol and how she started on her journey toward changing it. She shares how people label themselves based on their drinking habits and how the wrong beliefs around drinking culture can have a huge impact on many areas of life.    Claire, like many others, found herself in a cycle of working in a busy job as well as raising her family and finding herself exhausted. A few glasses of wine in the evening were often her escape, but this simply masked the fact that she was physically and mentally depleted.   Claire reveals that she didn’t actually realise how much of a negative impact that alcohol was having on multiple areas of her life - what could seem like a fairly innocent way of relaxing was having some seriously detrimental effects. One of the biggest issues that Claire sees is how NOT drinking is still considered to be a taboo subject.    On the topic of making positive changes, Claire highlights the importance of spending time with people that inspire you, especially those who may have shared goals and values. She explains that one of her principles in life is trying new things, which is what led her to initially undertake one of the OYNB challenges.
