All Connor McDavid Teammates Edmonton Oilers Team – Goalie Edition | Cam Talbot & Stuart Skinner

The All Connor McDavid Teammates fantasy roster challenge reaches its final chapter—goaltending. In this episode of Locked On Oilers, host Nick Zararis builds the ultimate Edmonton Oilers goalie tandem from players who have shared the ice with Connor McDavid, while staying under a strict $71.5 million salary cap and using only one rookie contract (already spent on McDavid). We break down the best netminders of the McDavid era and land on two standouts: Cam Talbot (2016-17 season) — A workhorse starter with 73 games played, a .919 save percentage, and second-best goals saved above expected in the NHL. Stuart Skinner (2022-23 season) — A stellar rookie campaign with 29 wins, .913 save percentage, and top-15 goals saved above expected. From Talbot’s marathon season to Skinner’s poised rookie year, we discuss their fit in this hypothetical roster, why the Edmonton Oilers have struggled to find consistent goaltending for over 15 years, and what it really takes to win a Stanley Cup with “good enough” netminding. 0:00 Intro: Connor McDavid roster building challenge 4:06 Why drafting goalies every year is crucial 8:41 Cam Talbot as starting goalie for Team McDavid 13:46 Talbot's career journey and workload challenges 18:21 Stuart Skinner as backup goalie choice 22:56 Oilers' goaltending needs and expectations All Connor McDavid Teammates Edmonton Oilers Team – Goalie Edition | Cam Talbot & Stuart Skinner Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
