All In, Week 2: Competition vs. Calling

from Freedom Church

(Colossians 2:6-7) (NLT) And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.  Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.   (Colossians 2:8) (NLT) Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. Competition vs. Calling (Ephesians 4:1) (NIV) As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. (Ephesians 4:2) (NIV) Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Colossians 2:9-10 (NCV) All of God lives fully in Christ (even when Christ was on earth), and you have a full and true life in Christ. Questions that Break the Spirit of Competition: What am I trying to prove?  Wisdom Ecclesiastes 1:17 (NIV) Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind. To whom am I trying to prove it?  World Ecclesiastes 4:4 (NLT) Then I observed that most people are motivated to success because they envy their neighbors. But this, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind. For what purpose am I trying to prove it?  Worth Ecclesiastes 2:11 (NLT) But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere. (Ecclesiastes 4:6) (NIV) Better one handful with tranquility than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind. (Mark 8:36) (NLT) And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
