All Men Seek For You (Part 3)!

from Emmanuel Afiawari's Inspiration podcast · host Emmanuel Afiawari

Proverbs 13: 20 says, "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm." That all men seek you doesn't mean all men are welcome into your space. Choose your circle of associates wisely. Resist the urge to keep unwise people around you who've nothing to contribute to your betterment; resist people whose association hurt you. Yes! There're people whose presence demean you, they talk down on you, make light of your struggles and would never validate you or acknowledge your best efforts. From all such, turn away! Seek men who build solid support systems around you; men who got your back in your trying moments; they're not fairweather men who run or disappear as soon as they hear you hit a rough patch. Seek men who'll hold you accountable for your every action and decision; men who can look you in the face and scold you when you act out of order. Everyone needs men who can hold their hands up when weakness gains the better part of them. Do not trivialise the wisdom and values of men of your core inner circle. Even Jesus had Peter, James and John. Be wise! A companion of fools shall be destroyed (Prov. 13: 20). Fools are people without discretion; they're lose-mouthed, and can't think or operate at a level where you're safe in their space. They gossip about everything and bear tales about, such that your secrets are not safe with them. They do not honour the confidentiality code, and do not take to correction when in error of judgment. People like this will hurt you and won't discern they did. They're so entitled and think they're the best thing to happen to you. Be careful of people who drain you!
