All The Dead Men's Dreams: Sinn Féin, Commemoration and the Complex Reality of Ireland

from Stray Bullets · host E.S. Haggan

Another unplanned episode. This time I consider Michelle O'Neill's laying of a wreath at the cenotaph in Belfast on Remembrance Sunday and the reaction to same. I guess the theme of this episode is the complex reality of Ireland and this got me thinking about Francis Ledwidge also, so I've included a very brief musing on the complex (contradictory(?)) reality personified by Ledwidge. I was hoping to include Robert Graves too, but decided to leave him for a future episode.I hope my delivery this episode isn't too scattergun as my CPTSD can cause my thoughts to crash through my words. In the next episode I'll be again looking at the RUC and collusion with a final input from Det / 14 Int.Many thanks        Click here if you’d like to send me a comment or question. Offscreen, he dodged the tabloid press and became so determined to live a private life he moved to one of the smallest towns in Idaho. But he didn’t just want to live in Hailey — he wanted to transform it. Soon, this sleepy old mining town was home to a culture clash between Hollywood spectacle and small-town values, with real-life secret rooms, car chases, and betrayal worthy of a Willis thriller. Welcome to Haileywood. Host Dana Schwartz will be your guide. Comics Rot Your Brain! This time period was defined by a weird rift in the fabric of spacetime that allowed an industry in flux to reimagine what was possible. We all remember the eye-popping results: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, WATCHMEN, CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS, LOVE & ROCKETS, MAUS, etc.…But what of the lesser-known gems of this era: THRILLER, GRIMJACK, NEXUS, CONCRETE, MR. MONSTER, SCOUT, STRAY TOASTERS, and so many others!? These comics and their creators blazed radical new trails that changed the course of comics forever but often are left out of today’s discourse.COMICS ROT YOUR BRAIN! exists to celebrate and reckon with the extraordinary legacy of 1980s American comics — all o The Speaking Frankly Football Show Frank Hughes & AJ Vergette Hello and welcome to The Speaking Frankly Football Show.Hosted by Frank Hughes, Chairman of Skelmersdale United FC & AJ Vergette, Skelmersdale United Press Officer. We concentrate mainly on matters of non league football, but occasionally we stray and cover other controversial subjects in football as well.We give in depth analysis on the North West Counties Football League.Interviews, opinions, controversial issues and much more!We are Speaking Frankly.
