Alone Doing Extreme Research with Author Mark Greaney

This week we are joined by Mark Greaney! Mark Greaney is an American novelist, best known for his Gray Man thriller series and as Tom Clancy’s collaborator on several Jack Ryan novels.  His extensive research has taken him to more than 35 countries, and he has trained alongside military and law enforcement in firearms, battlefield medicine, and close-range combat tactics.  His latest novel, The Hard Line, published February 17, 2026, is the 15th entry in the Gray Man series.  In this episode, Mark shares his journey to becoming a successful author and the extensive research he does for his books. He discusses his passion for international affairs, sparked by his father's stories and his own travels, which influenced his writing career. Mark also reflects on the challenges and triumphs of his path to publishing, including his experiences with Hollywood and co-authoring with Tom Clancy.
