Alonso Debut Faces Fulham Test | Chelsea F.C. News

Xabi Alonso makes his Chelsea debut in a high-stakes west London derby against Fulham — a reunion with former teammate Álvaro Arbeloa at the helm. With a full pre-season under his belt and no European distractions, Alonso’s tactical vision is finally put to the test. Key absences loom: Wesley Fofana is suspended, Jordan Henderson remains sidelined, and others are doubtful. But there’s optimism: Levi Colwill is fit and ready to anchor defense alongside Lacroix and James, while Enzo Fernández looks sharp and João Pedro, now signed long-term, leads the attack. Wing-back Pedro Neto, despite Saudi rumors, is expected to start. Kickoff is Monday, August 24th, at 8 PM BST — live on Sky Sports.
