Alumni Spotlight: Jade Garnett

Bowman's Friends is a podcast created to connect and inform UK students of issues, events, and cool stuff on campus and the Lexington area. It is hosted by UK students, for the UK community. Our goal is to amplify student voices through advocating for equity, inclusion, and representation of all. On this episode, Samantha Valentino and Gillian Stawiszynski are joined by Creative Marketing Production Assistant for NBC News and TODAY.com Contributor, Jade Garnett. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts and Studies and is a current M.A. candidate in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of Alabama. Throughout her time at UK, she worked with the Kentucky Kernel, KRNL Magazine, the Creative Writing Club, The Odyssey, Student Government Association, the Leadership Development Program, and more. She also completed a number of internships with companies such as On Tour Records, WLEX-TV, MSNBC, and the TODAY Show. They discussed Jade's journey through college and how she worked her way to her current position at NBC, networking, imposter syndrome, and more.
