Send us Fan MailAlways Be Grateful (Advent 19)“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18Mr. Campbell had just come out of a very serious medical procedure that had left him paralyzed on half of his body. His prospects for recovery were uncertain. When asked how he was doing, rather than responding that he was anxious, or tired, or afraid as those in the room anticipated, Mr. Campbell responded that he was grateful for the use of half his body. Everyone was stunned. Rather than focusing on what he had lost, he was grateful for what he had left. Mr. Campbell did recover the use of the rest of his body and went on to enjoy several more years of life. His attitude of gratitude for certain helped him appreciate the life he had and more than likely contributed to his recovery as well. Learning to practice gratitude in the face of difficult circumstances helps transform our experience of those circumstances. I’m Horace McMillon.
