Always in Process (Scott Strickland) | S1E5

from Warrior Hope · host Andy Jenkins

Major Scott Strickland served in numerous capacities in the United States Army, including flying Apache helicopters— a tandem machine in which two warriors must truly work as one (in fact, the sis probably one of the most advanced vehicles the U.S. military has in its arsenal). Since returning from the front lines, Scott continues to assist his fellow veterans who may be struggling with post-military issues.   Scott is a certified John Maxwell trainer and brought a wealth of expertise and experience to the table when we were developing the Warrior Hope curriculum. Scott helped with the verbiage, with military terminology, helped us really understand how to communicate concepts we wanted to teach… I’ve seen his heart first hand… and you’ll hear it in this talk. He attended the first “pilot program” of the Warrior Hope / Centers of Hope project. Always arrived early. Stayed late. Imparted wisdom on how to navigate the VA and benefit assistance… truly cares…   In this talk we listen to his story about serving in the military, the lessons he learned, and how we’re all always in the process of healing and identifying the next mission. One thing to listen for… Scott talks about attending that first group in order to help others. “I’d won,” he says. “I finally had a mission, something to invest in.” However, even though he went to offer others hope and healing, Scott found another layer of personal redemption and restoration.   The lesson? We’re always in process, being transformed from one degree of goodness to an even higher one (2 Corinthians 3:18).
