When the younger brother finally "comes to his senses" and limps home expecting probation, the father breaks all cultural norms by running to him to offer full restoration. The miracle isn't just that the son returned, but that the father never stopped being a father. The Danger of the Older Brother Spirit: The parable ends without resolution because it was originally directed at the grumbling religious leaders. The older brother stayed physically close to the house but remained completely insulated from the father's heart.
