And joining me today on the show is my special guest, Amanda Deshawn, the certified medium. She's also a life coach. Amanda, you wear many hats, but I'm glad to be able to be in the studio here today for a while. I'm delighted to be here, Paul.

But today we're talking about the three most overlooked elements of effective visualization. And this is something that's interesting because I've heard some about this. Don't think I've ever talked about this on the show. So you're going to explain what it is.

I know there's what three steps of this. There is really to start out, I guess, visualization is something that I think most people have heard of, but may not really understand the details of it. It's really, if I could put it in three, just one little short saying, it's really manifesting your goals. Visualization has been used really since the beginning of time.

There is records of people in past times, ancient times, visualizing what they would do in more time, for example, where they were going to go and how they were going to take on. So really visualizing is kind of a planning, but within your mind. And the more detailed it is, as we'll see in these steps, the further your mind will be able to take you into that becoming reality. It's kind of like we talked before we went on the air here.

You hear people like the visual boards or whenever they cut pictures of things out and they put it on a board. But that's what we're doing, we're visualizing that and it's in our mind. It is in our mind, but we're producing that energy. You can kind of will it come out.

And what we're doing is we're asking for that energy to come towards us. So if you can in picture, what you're doing is you're kind of opening up the shutter on your being in your mind. And when you do that, it's kind of like opening the floodgates right up the river here and letting things flow towards you. So what you're doing is you're saying, for example, I want that new job or I want a new relationship or I want to move or whatever those pieces are, then you're letting your mind go towards it.

At the same time, you're drawing it towards you. And it's more than just you don't want to just stop there and say, I want this because we all know that I'm guilty of charge of that. You can't just be, throw that thought out there or think it once or twice and then be done with it. There's a lot more involved in it than that.

Absolutely. So to give you a quick, it is what most people would call a new age, I guess you could look at it that way. But it's been used, like I was saying, since the beginning of time, really looking at different ways to have things in your life. But it really became a thing in the 60s with Gwanis Shekti, which I wrote a book.

It's a little tiny paper back. I encourage everybody, you can get it. She actually put it out in print 10 or 12 times. It was the best seller multiple times over many times over millions of copies.

And it's called creative visualization. Easy read. You can read it literally in one evening and put some of those things into place in your life and use them. But visualization became a kind of a code word here in our country in the 80s when Russia started using it at the Olympics.

And so everybody said, what is this? What is this visualization that is helping them be such athletes? So they have done many studies so far and showed that if you take an athlete and let them practice 75% of the time and visualize 25% of the time, they'll actually come out ahead of those people that are practicing 100% of the time. So what you're allowing your mind to do is you're allowing your mind to put you in what some people then refer to is the zone.

And you're letting yourself see what you're going to accomplish. Therefore, your body already knows this is what I'm going to do before you even start to do it. Wow. So as you said a while ago alluded to whether it's a relationship, a job change, or maybe we just want to take our lives in another direction.

You need to just kind of visualize that. And you really need to work on it because you need to do more than what Paul does. Maybe it happens as a quick thought. But you really have to train yourself.

There's a lot involved in it. And that's why you're here today to tell us all about it. Well, I think it's really easy when you cut it down to that there's really for effective visualization. There's three specific components.

It's that easy. You can do the vision boards. You can do different things. But it all falls into these three.

So there's really no wrong with it. But detail definitely, right? Yeah, that is actually the first thing. So it really is about detail.

So for example, if I would say, okay, I really need a new job. Well, there's a lot of jobs. What job do you want? It's kind of just a blanket statement.

A generic kind of thought. Exactly. So the energy of the universe is trying to figure out what job is it that you want to come to you. So a lot of times there'll be things coming in front of you and jobs and you'll say, well, what is this?

This isn't what I wanted. And so your mind is then thinking on the negative side, you're thinking, oh, this isn't what I wanted. So now you really have the universe confused because they sent a job around you, but it isn't what you wanted. Now you're saying, no, that ain't what I wanted.

So is it jobs you didn't want? Or so you have to be specific because what you'll do is you'll confuse yourself and the energy that is meant to help us. There is a God force energy out there. There's spirit.

There's angel. There's so much energy in our universe that we haven't used. There's a lot more work than we realize. Absolutely.

And a lot of the quantum, physics people out there, they know that they're trying to let people understand that we're a little piece of that energy, but we're like a star in the sky of the energy of a universe of a galaxy. Wow. That vast. Absolutely.

And so you know, it's a detail again when you'd be specific. Yeah, you want to see what you're asking for. So the visualizing is really about, you know, seeing yourself and you don't necessarily have to have your eyes closed for this. It's a good way to maybe start and think about what you want.

Say there's a certain place that you want to work because it's something you've always kind of felt like you needed to be in. So say you've always felt like you needed to be a nurse, for example, but you just never took that route. Like things were easier to do something else. And then you're still getting pulled towards that.

So you want to say, okay, you know, help me get on that path and see yourself in nursing school, see yourself in the scrubs and you're sitting in the classroom and you're learning things and visualize the body in front of you on the posters and anatomy, physiology, see yourself going into the hospitals and working with patients. The more you see all that, the more you'll track that to you in ways that you'll be able to do it comes to you. That's the parts that you don't want to worry about. The how it's just the detail.

That's where you get hung up on all the how and by the time it's said and done, I'm just like, forget it. And the how is something we don't need the how kind of works itself out or. Absolutely. Because we can only see from one or two directions.

If you can pitch your spirit energy and that God force energy is around you everywhere at every moment and it's allowing them to send people to you or things to you that you would have never even dreamt of in a million years. So you need to open yourself up to leave and go of the how. Just look at what and that's the detail. What is it you want?

And again, we're talking with Amanda de Chiang today on weekend focus effective visualization. And before we move on here, Amanda, if anybody has any questions for you, they want to learn more about you, talk to you, make an appointment with you. How can they get in touch with you? Absolutely.

They can call my number, 304-780-9709 or you can visit my website and I have a contact page on there as well. And that's www.amanda-de-chiang.com. As I know you're here in the valley, you've got in Columbus, so you're all over the place. Yes, I'm traveling more and trying to reach out to more and more people.

I think that's what it's about. And it sure is. And now we touched on detail when it comes to effective visualization and consistency. So some people may get those confused, but there's a big difference.

Absolutely. So just to jump back to detail for one second, if you can involve your senses, that's very important too. So for example, say you want to be a baker. I was going to say if you want to work in a bakery, I was just that.

Let's smell those things baking and smell the sweetness of the icings or whatever you're dealing with. So remember that all those things really help you then make a permanency, a more secure attachment to those details. So see it, smell it, hear it. If you want to work in a radio, work in a band, hear yourself there, hear people's conversations.

So use those senses that you have here as well to make that attachment very strong. I like that visualization there, but the bakery thing, they never hire me in a bakery because I eat everything. That'd be a perfect job for me to work in a bakery. I had all those cookies and icing and bread.

But when you said that, I was thinking I was going to shout out bakery. So we both had that same, that's odd at the same time. Is that good or is that scary? No, that's exactly the way Spirit works.

We're on the same page. That's a good thing, right? And now as I jumped the gun a little earlier, now we can talk more about consistency. Yeah.

So performing and really preparing for the consistency has to be, you know, I tell people that you need to do it as often as possible. Some people try to start out doing it in the morning and the evening. But I think that you can take at least a second and, you know, if you have to close your eyes in a work environment or even if you go, you know, everybody has to use the restroom in a day's time when you're at your work. If you can just visualize while you're washing your hands, you know, put the soap on, put the water on, close your eyes for 30 seconds there while you're washing your hands and you'll literally be able to visualize some of those things that you're wanting to come to you.

So there's little times like that that you can pull into a parking space before you go into the grocery store, take 30 seconds to close your eyes, see what it is, you know, in the vision. So a few times through the day, make sure that you really sit and visualize, but it's great to have those dedicated times that are helping you visualize exactly what you want to come to you as well. So we're talking, you know, a new place to live, new house, new job, new relationships, live somewhere else, change location of where you live. All that can be done just in your mind can advance you into that place.

And again, I'm thinking when you're talking about that, I mean, almost even like, I don't know whether this is a good comparison because I can't believe I'm using this as a comparison when it comes to exercise, you know, you have to stick in that routine every day. If you want to do a 30 minute, you got to do that every day. Absolutely. And you got to get yourself, it's all about consistency.

It is indeed. So that's what I was thinking about there. And also another one, and this one, the third one, Amanda, this is a tough one for me belief. This is this probably would be my my week point.

Well, you have to believe what you're visualizing is going to come about. And don't be like me if you're visualizing something new, you're trying it, maybe something either doesn't exactly go the way you want it to or the way you think it shouldn't and just think, well, then it wasn't meant for me. And then you just you got to keep believing in it. Maybe, you know, I'm not good for that.

It just because one little thing kind of. Absolutely. So I believe with visualization, it starts to send you down the path. So for example, you know, somebody might say, well, and you can be detailed to the exactness.

And I have seen that in my life happened, literally exactness. But you can also say, oh, that's the house I've been wanting. It's wow, it's now up for sale. And I can't believe it.

But in my visualizing, I had a white picket fence around it. Okay, can you put a white picket fence around the exact house that you wanted? Yes. So, you know, but if you're saying, well, the house I was visualizing was a ranch.

And this is like, you know, a cape or a two stories whole box. That is not. Okay. So what you're really looking at is the details of something being it may not be a hundred percent, but I can tell you now from my past and what I've helped people with in my coaching that it will be in a 90% of what you were asking for.

Wow. So there might be a few tweaks, but it won't be much. And I like this another example you have. If you believe you'll flunk it, it's likely that your study habits will negatively be impacted by that.

So if you constantly say I'm going to fail this test, I'm not going to do well, I'm going to fail, I'm going to fail because that's your, what is it? You're setting yourself up for failure. Absolutely. It's not going to be a good time if you keep thinking that.

And that's with everything in our life, you know, because a lot of people say, well, you know, I just, I had a terrible divorce or I've had the last three or four relationships were terrible. And I just, I just know the next one, it just ain't going to work either. So I don't, so what you're doing is looking into the past. You're pulling the past into what you want.

You're visualizing to be. And that's the future. So you're pulling things into the present moment that does not need to be incorporating into your future. Because the present moment is really all we have.

That's why the visualizing is sending our thoughts forward. Visualizing is really the only way we can attach ourselves to the future. Okay. Because you know why it's easier, we can always, it's, and I'm thinking here that we always dwell on the past because we've been there.

So it's hard to, when it comes to the future, because we've never been there. So it's kind of hard to see. So, but if you really train yourself that consistency and really believe it. Absolutely.

Because it's always easier to go back to what was because we've been there. We know that. It's kind of hard to, because I'm one that I always live in the past when you said being in the present right now. That's what's really important.

And that part of it, really, what you're doing when you detach from that past as something that you want to pull forward, what you're doing also is allowing yourself to become lighter in a sense of worry, in a sense of how's that going to happen. All those things stay with you when you want to focus towards the past because you're asking yourself, well, how's that going to happen? Because it never happened in the past. And that's going to make it difficult to happen when you continue to do that.

Absolutely. That's interesting. So you want to let go of that? And again, the only way we can attach ourselves to our future is through visualization and seeing what we want to have in the future.

And you can talk to anyone that's an athlete. You can talk to people that have come into the jobs they want or you can ask millionaires, billionaires, how did you get to that place? And every one of them will tell you along the way there was some visualization techniques that they used to get themselves there. And it's a combination.

You just don't throw something out. And if it doesn't happen, it's like you got to do some legwork yourself too, but having that plan, that visualization, that's really key to helping you. And so remember those physical things, the smells of things or hearing things are right. Everybody knows that Jim Carrey wrote that million dollar check and put it in his wallet and had it there for a couple of years.

But you know what? Wow. And his first movie situation actually made him more than that. So when we do things to impact and see and visualize even in the real time, just not in our mind, you will also impact the future because you're pulling that energy to you.

And Amanda, again, let people know if they want to get in touch with you, how they can check you out on the website. How can they do that? Certainly you can reach me at www.amandadishong. That's A-M-A-N-D-A-D-E-S-H-O-N-G.com.

And you can reach me at 304-780-9709. Anything else you can do. I think we have a detailed consistency in belief when it comes to effective visualization. Thanks for bringing a new perspective.

I've never discussed this with anyone on the show before. And just when I think we can't go another direction and find something new that I really think is going to be a lot of hard work on. But it's about just practice. Absolutely.

That's why any expensive equipment doesn't require any special tools. If you can think, you can do it. Absolutely. And so that's why I broke it down to really being able to coach people and train people that there's really only three parts to it.

And certainly there's details in each one of those parts that you can emphasize and work on and again the smells, the colors, hearing things. All those things are a part of it. But leaving go of what has happened in the past to move forward I think is where you kind of use the key in that door. And it opens up a whole new you.

And Amanda, since I got you here in the studio here, a certified medium. Talked to me a little bit about the difference. What is a certified medium? Anybody that's unfamiliar with that?

Certainly. So I've actually been in training by different people, different organizations. And through that, that has allowed me to be certified in a way of there is training that goes with that. There's testing basically.

So they'll test you on knowing people, knowing names, knowing things that have happened to. So it's really just sitting down and doing readings, but there's other people involved where those people are the test subjects. So they're keeping track of exactly what was known or what wasn't. And then there's people asking things like, look at a picture and tell me about the person in the picture.

So I'm not even seeing that person. I have to know whether they're in spirit or they're here or perhaps how they passed into spirit, illnesses they had where they lived. And the picture itself, usually through all the testing I did, might give you one little inkling like, okay, it's a male or female, what age they were. But a lot of times it wouldn't even show you kind of where they lived, but you had to figure all that out through asking spirit to help with that.

So a lot of different testing has allowed me to put certified there before the medium. What's one of the common question you get from a lot of people that come to you is that usually loved ones that have passed over. I think I've asked you this before. Is that the, maybe even I guess maybe jobs, would that be?

Are those actually the big topics? Yes, I actually get a lot of concerns, I should say. I get a lot of different questions, but a lot I would say is job situations around people. So it's really them asking spirit, what do they see there?

But spirit comes through a lot in the readings before the person even asks a question. So I tell them they're allowed to ask questions, but spirit usually comes through with everything that they've been thinking about or needing to know about before they even say a word. They usually tell them about their children if they have kids, about their relationships, about their jobs, if they're in school or out of school where they just graduated, they'll show me diplomas or books or things. So they're really wanting that individual that's sitting with me to understand that spirit is involved in their lives to the extent where they see everything happening around them.

So they want to get that across to them before they even answer their question. Most of the time they actually answer their questions before they're asked. That's interesting. And let me ask if anyone's listening and I know I've asked you this before when you mentioned spirits, who are you referring to when you say spirit?

When I say spirit energy, first of all, I'm actually talking in two realms. Okay. I'm talking about this people when I do the... Or I say what are you referring to?

Okay. So the spirit energy that I speak of through my mediumship is those loved ones and friends and even co-workers or people that you've been associated with, school people or co-workers, they come in and they'll tell you when they were around you what they did with you so that you understand that continuity of life. They'll also show you things that are helping with now. And then there's...

So that side is people that have passed over and they usually give me in some way how they passed as well, whether it was illness or a vehicle wreck or even someone came in the other day that was in a plane crash. So no matter how those individuals come in, they show us that after this life, there is still life. And then I ask that energy to also help me bring the energy that is around you in this physical side. So that's spirit energy as well.

So what I don't want to invade anyone's privacy, but what I ask is spirit to send me the energy of people around you. So I may talk about your mom and your dad and send that energy, but certainly that would be... You're just sending that to me. Okay.

So I know mom and dad's doing fine. She's smiling. She... They must have a pool or something.

Do they have a pool? Do they have a pool? Do they have a pool? Do they have a pool?

Do they have a pool? No. Do they have a pool? No.

Do they have a pool? Do they have a pool? Do they have a pool? No.

Do they have a pool? Yes. Yes. So I just feel like she's saying she's enjoying the summer with everyone.

Absolutely. So I ask her to send that energy to me. So it's not that I'm invading or working with your parents energy because they're not here permitting me to do that. Other mediums or psychics may do that.

That's interesting. I ask spirit to send that to me because say you're having a situation that might not be so good at work. And there's a coworker that's kind of causing a little bit of problem. So you're going to have people lining up out your door for sure.

So, or if you're in a relationship and you know personal relationship and people are, they just want me to show that so that that person understands so that you just understand your sister's with you when she shows me the pool and everything. You know what? That's interesting that you say that because it took me a minute to think you were talking about my sister about that because my sister that had passed. Yes.

But because before that she could never get in the water because of having problems with the dialysis, the port and stuff. She would come over and she would sit on the side of the pool and she could put her feet in and put her toes in that. So you, you never knew that because I tell you a lot of stuff. You knew myself.

I never even knew you had a pool. Yeah. So now, yeah, there's a lot of things that you just said that now I've got the goosebumps going because I'm somebody I tell a lot of information but you didn't know that. And so I didn't realize you were going because you started looking at me and I'm like, wait a minute, she's talking about me here.

I thought that was part of the show and I'm like, wait a minute. So it just happened here on the air which, and now I've come full circle and you're absolutely right because at first you were kind of looking at me and giving me like the thumbs up and I'm thinking, wait a minute, is she talking about and yeah, I got so, yes, I know Stephanie's is over there at my pool now. She's there in spirit with those feet. Absolutely.

So, I'm going to be a good time and probably telling me to get out there and enjoy the pool too. Absolutely. So let me, does it get exhausting what you do? No, not at all.

It's very entertaining. Do you have to get away from it? Do you ever, especially maybe when it comes time and we just have a couple minutes here when maybe when loved ones have passed and you're dealing with a family that's left behind at first and the emotions are running high, does do you ever have to step away at once you're done with that? Do you ever have to kind of retreat yourself in a way or does it always, I mean, I know it's a good feeling you help people obviously make them feel better.

It actually disconnects in a sense very quickly after with those individuals and I've asked spirit not to let it stick with me. So what I do at the end of the day and I explain to people, so did I don't attach to the energy, don't stay with that energy, I visualize with spirit energy. I ask all the family members, friends, everyone that was there in the readings that I've had during that day. So there could be literally hundreds of people there with us to stand in front of a white board and I asked them to help me erase it so that I no longer have those memories.

So when people call me like a few days later or they'll send me a text and say, you remember this, you said this and this happened and I have to say 99% of the time I do not remember the pool with the toes and the water that won't. Okay. Because I'll be reminding you of that one. I remind, and Amanda, just see her just as we wrap up your phone number on my website again if anybody wants to get in trouble.

It's 304-780-9709 or you can reach me at www.amandadishong.com. All right, Amanda, I always appreciate your time and effort and for stopping by the show today. I love it. We'll be talking to you soon.
