Amarillo by Morning

Caleb Fincher has spent his life chasing the rodeo from one dusty arena to the next, sacrificing nearly everything for the eight seconds that make him feel most alive. Then he meets Lauren Mackabee—a fearless barrel racer from Amarillo who loves the road just as fiercely as he does. What begins as friendship becomes the kind of love powerful enough to unravel the life Caleb has already built. But when Lauren begins dreaming of something beyond the rodeo—a ranch in Amarillo, a family, and a life that lasts—Caleb discovers there is one thing he may love more than her: the freedom of never having to stay. Inspired by George Strait’s timeless country classic Amarillo by Morning, this original story is featured on Songbook: Country Music, Reimagined—a serialized fiction podcast where beloved country songs become cinematic stories of love, loss, longing, and the roads we choose.
