AMATEUR BASEBALL: Renner takes Pepsi Invite title

Mark Abrahamson was busy during the 6th Annual Pepsi Invitational amateur baseball tournament this past weekend. Abrahamson played in four games for both the hometown Pipestone A’s and Harrisburg Woodies. A’s head coach Avery Ploeger reported the Minnesota Baseball Association had to approve Abrahamson playing for both. In the end, the Renner Monarchs won the championship based on their 2-0 performance. “They are arguably the best team in South Dakota,” Ploeger said. “To have them play over here was pretty cool.” The title contest between the A’s and Monarchs was halted during the second inning because of heavy rain stemming...
