Amazon pulled out of New York City (NYC) signalling the death of NYC. Seems extreme, right? But...NYC has been dying for ~15+ years. New York State has continued to lose population. And Western New York is one of the poorest districts in the country. New York City acts like people are lucky to do business there. NYC is old, expensive and the quality of life is not high. But... if you're young and looking for a job, then NYC is a good experience. The Amazon HQ2 NYC controversy is an issue because NYC will need those 25,000 jobs from Amazon in the future. Having an Amazon Headquarters NYC and an Amazon Headquarters in New York would have solidified NYC as a technology powerhouse to rival San Francisco.
