Send us Fan MailI was introduced to the Montford Point Marines three years ago around Veteran's Day when I attended one of their awards ceremonies at the War Memorial in Baltimore. I didn't know their story before going. Fast forward to February of this year when one of my high school classmates, Eugene (Dobie) Gillis, a retired Marine who lives in California, forwarded me an email in February about the Montford Point Marines Association's 61st Annual Conference being held in  Baltimore July 8 -12. I believe in signs, so I said I would go and try to meet an original Montford Point Marine to interview for my podcast. Don't you know that I did just that. Today, July 9, the first day of the conference I met Ambassador Britton, and he agreed to share his remarkable story of how a little boy from the tiny town of Blue Heaven, South Carolina, grew up to become a scholar and a gentleman.Make every moment count!
