AMD Slides, SpaceX Falls, Eli Lilly Jumps as Obesity Drug Boom Shows No Sign of Slowing

from Stock Movers · host iHeartPodcasts

On this episode of Stock Movers:  Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) shares slide. AMD fell after the company gave an underwhelming sales outlook, a sign shareholders expected more of a return from the global expansion of AI data centers. Third-quarter revenue will be $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million, according to the chipmaker, though some Wall Street estimates were well north of $13 billion.  SpaceX (SPCX) shares fell after the company disclosed higher-than-expected spending on its artificial intelligence business. The company’s capital expenditures soared to $28.5 billion in the first half of the year, with the vast majority of expenditures steered toward AI. SpaceX generated $3.38 billion in revenue from artificial intelligence during the first six months of the year, less than half what its connectivity business brought in during that span.  Eli Lilly (LLY) shares jump. Eli Lilly & Co. boosted its 2026 sales guidance after its weight-loss drug franchise performed far better than expected in the second quarter. Sales for the year are forecast to be between $85 billion and $87 billion, with second-quarter adjusted earnings and revenue beating Wall Street estimates.
