American Airlines Lets Flyers Turn Spare Miles Into Support for Veterans

Send us a text and chime in!  American Airlines is inviting AAdvantage members to put unused miles toward causes that support the military community, tying the effort to National Purple Heart Day, observed each year on August 7 to honor service members wounded or killed in combat. Through the airline's Miles for Heroes program, members can donate miles to three organizations: the Gary Sinise Foundation, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, and the Medal of Honor Foundation. Donating takes just a few steps through an AAdvantage account, and members can contribute as few as 1,000 miles, or their full balance if it falls below that threshold.
