American Jesus :: Week 1

In our new series, American Jesus, you will be invited to encounter what Jesus actually said about being his disciple, and then challenged to obey what you have heard. In many ways we have manipulated a God-centered gospel to fit our human-centered preferences. The phrase American Dream is familiar to everyone who lives on this soil. Most people so pursue this "dream" that they are willing to do anything, go anywhere and run over anybody just to capture it. ...all the while neglecting the scriptural mandate we have to abandon all for the sake of the cross. The things Jesus called us to are difficult and to live them out requires sacrifice. We are going to take back our faith from the American dream and become radical followers of Christ.
