On this episode of Feudal Future, hosts Joel Kotkin and Marshall Toplansky are joined by Robert Casanova, director of industry and economic policy at the Semiconductor Industry Association, and Bill Amelio, CEO of DoubleCheck Solutions, to discuss America's need to reshore the semiconductor industry.William (Bill) Amelio was the Chief Executive Officer of Avnet. He has more than 35 years of management and industry experience and has held senior positions at global publicly traded companies and has spent most of his career managing global technology enterprises. In July 2016, he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Avnet.Bill was the President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of CHC Group Ltd., a global helicopter services company, from 2010 to 2015. From 2005 to 2009, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Lenovo. Prior to his role at Lenovo, Bill was a Regional Senior Vice President and President, Asia-Pacific and Japan for Dell Inc. He began his career with the Microelectronics Technology Division of IBM in 1979 and later became the General Manager, Worldwide Operations of the Personal Computer Division. In 2019, Bill was elected to the S&P Global Board of Directors.Bill previously served on the Board of Directors of National Semiconductor.
