Amidst all the languishing, can I still live an abundant life? This is the daily disturbance podcast with Anthony Gungini Men. Languishing didn't change this world, my friend. In fact, identifying languishing areas of our lives or in the lives of others is just a more specific diagnosis of the many challenges human beings have long faced in this world that we live in.
When Jesus said he came to give people life in all its abundance, the very time, the context, the place he declared it was pretty messed up, guys. I think about it to be a Jew in the Roman Empire, discrimination, inequality, condemnation, and Jesus gave his crucifixion. And so, yes, that was the declaration. In Christ, you can still live a life of abundance, the very purpose he came.
And he chooses to empower within all those who are willing to receive him. Without any doubt, we are seeing a global crisis like we have never seen in the history of mankind, in terms of scope, in terms of complexity, in terms of duration. I thought this would last for a few months. And even as I speak, August 2021, the end is still not in sight, right?
But the darker the night, come on, the brighter the stars shine. If you will live in abundance, you must see the opportunity and you must access the light. You must not hoard what is provided, but you must share it. You must trust that divine blessing comes to and through those willing to be used as channels of grace.
But, Anthony, what about those who are in abundance, who not only refuse to be a channel of blessing, but are clear instruments of darkness? You know, even as I share my thoughts with you today, our NGO called to rescue is working on several cases of child abuse, online, and even rape, on site. And each case is multi-faceted, covering legal proceedings, financial needs, psychological intervention, medical support, law enforcement, partnerships, media coverage, family dynamics, and of course, the empowerment of the team. But you know, every rescue is exhilarating, to be honest.
Every recovery is indeed a joy. Every strategic or tactical move explored makes our team come alive. But sourcing the energy and the life to go about this mission daily is a moment-by-moment thing. The abundant life, the overflow, can only happen when we draw from an eternal and bountiful source.
I love what David said in Psalm 87, 7, all my springs are in you. Let me close with this quote from Jean-Marie Bouvier de la Maud Guillain, the only way to heaven is prayer, a prayer of the heart, which everyone is capable of. And none of the reasonings, which are the throats of study or exercise of the imagination, which, in filling the mind with wandering objects, rarely settle it. And instead of warming the heart with love to God, they leave it cold and languishing.
Amidst all the languishing, my friend, choose to live a life of abundance. It's a Friday. And as an application, three questions. If you've been with me through the months, you know what they will be.
Whether you've been with me for quite some time, or this is your first time, the first question I ask of you for this week, and even just an application of what you heard today, what is one area of your life that is currently languishing? Admit it. And plan for it. Number two, what is one thing you can do for someone you know is currently languishing, too.
And number three, how can you source more effectively from the divine spring that has more than enough for you to overflow to the world, the tribe, the mission field that God has given you. Have a great weekend, dear friends, and see you again on Monday.
