Amy Malin is the cofounder of Trueheart and the Trueheart social impact search engine, a new platform that allows people to change the world with every search. Trueheart donates 80% of their net profits to six deserving non-profits who work to save lives, feed the hungry, protect the planet, promote animal welfare, fight for equality and support our youth. For the last two decades, Amy has worked at the intersection of Hollywood and philanthropy. Amy’s expertise is connecting celebrities and purpose-driven brands with deserving nonprofits to raise millions of dollars for their noble causes while creating global media campaigns that shine a spotlight on their wonderful work. Amy is a survivor of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. She hopes to help make the world a safer and more loving place for her children’s generation. This Episode’s Heavy-hitter’s: - Volunteering made Amy realize that everyone has some form of pain or trauma that they have to work through, and helping people helped her heal from her own traumas as a survivor of assault and trafficking. - Amy actually started her career after moving to New York by cold-calling companies that she wanted to work with. - In her struggles with trauma and PTSD, Amy suggests that people take things day by day. By focusing on the day rather than trying to figure out the next year of coping and growth, helps recovery become surmountable. - One way Trueheart tries to work on genuine causes with authentic celebrities is to find a cause that the celebrities have a direct connection to. If a candidate has had a relative affected by breast cancer for example, their contribution and awareness around that cause means that much more to the celebrities and those who they help. - Amy works alongside her husband and cofounder at Trueheart and explains the importance of recognizing how important it is to cut your partner slack when times get tough, rather than expecting the world of them and lashing out.
