Suffolk, England, 1895. A smuggling ship approaches the shore. Assisted by locals from the nearby village of Dunwich, the crew begins unloading its cargo as a storm grows around them. Dunwich used to be a thriving port, but much of the city was claimed by the sea hundreds of years ago. Now, all that remains is a shadow of its former self. In the darkness beneath the waves, a powerful force remains, keeping a shard of the past very much alive. The investigators, as thesmugglers, find themselves entering an echo of the night that sealed the fate of the city.A Call of Cthulhu RPG Actual Play, starting in gaslight era England.The player characters were:1. Elizabeth Devereux (played by Morgan) - A privileged young woman from a blue-blooded family. She is taking part in the smuggling operation for fun and to experience what life is really like.2. Emmanuelle Beaulieu (played by Ashlyn) - A French smuggler who hates the English after they murdered her husband.3. Tobias Levett (played by Toby) - A customs officer paid off to ensure the authorities look the other way. Corrupt, but sees it as just business. He has familial roots in Dunwich going back generations.4. Marie Martindale (played by Tim) - A farmer who is a devout Christian. Her son was dying but after a night of prayers and strange dreams where Marie promised to do whatever God wishes if He saved her child, her son made a miraculous recovery. Her dreams told her to be there tonight to assist the smugglers and she will discover what her dreams are asking of her.
