An earth worm

from Daily Picture Hosted by Stephanie Hawkins

Today I saw an earthworm. I reflected on the fact that worms do not seem to cause a phobia in people as they slowly move along and are usually underground anyway. They are vital to life because they break down dead and decaying matter into rich humus soil, thereby supporting plant growth. In other words, it takes what is dead and uses it for supporting new life. In very timely fashion, this morning a dear friend sent me a photo of a beautiful poppy which had grown from seed, unplanned by her, majestically high in her cultivated flower bed. Bees were buzzing around it for its rich pollen. This made my friend think on 3 Kingdom truths - we are not to conform to things of this world; we are beautiful and truly loved by God; we are here to work together for God. As another example, the lowly worm has its own majesty though it does not display itself up high. It is beautiful and loved by God in its position under the earth and it is also effective in the circle of life. Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life and live it more abundantly" (John 10:10b). Let all of us take hold of the Life He has planned for us.
