An emergency message from Lauren: What happened to our YouTube channel

Hey everyone, there will be no Mini Scroll today since we got an email saying that the Centennial World Podcast Network YouTube channel has been permanently removed for “severe or repeated violations of our child safety policy.” We are an Australian independent media company that covers internet culture, technology and social media platforms from a critical point of view – something that is increasingly important in the AI era.We have never, nor would never, produce or post content of this nature. We are very careful about the stories we choose to platform and how we cover viral moments.Knowing the digital world is a space that adults and minors share, we are very passionate about protecting children from harmful content online or being put in unsafe situations for virality. We have consistently spoken out against anything from family channels to unethical child influencing.    The email flags that violations are detected using a combination of automated systems and human reviewers. We presume an automated system pinged this. We are lucky enough to have operated as a media company for six years and know people who can put us in contact with YouTube to try and rectify this. But we are cognisant that many other independent creators do not.    So with all that, there will be no episode of Mini Scroll today – I had already recorded and started editing the episode, but obviously we have to address this situation ASAP. We love YouTube and our community there is such an important part of our brand. We will keep you updated.
