from KICPod · host LiSTNR

Dr Jacqueline Coombe is a Senior Research Fellow in the Sexual Health Unit at the University of Melbourne. Jacqui has been working within the sexual and reproductive health space for nearly a decade and she completed her PhD in long-acting reversible contraception. In this episode, Jacqui sits down with Steph to talk through all of the different contraceptive options in Australia - the Pill, IUD, Implanon, vaginal ring, hormonal injection and condoms, as well as vasectomies, the ‘morning after’ pill and the pull out method. Jacqui explains the efficacy and potential side-effects of each method, why some people choose certain methods over others, the process of getting an IUD inserted, and the questions you should ask your GP or healthcare provider beforehand.
