An Interview With... Chris Myers - Fox Sports

from Stadium Scene’s Main Event · host Stadium Scene Media

Sometimes we wonder how we book some of these shows.  Today is one of those days.  After a bit of a cold open discussing Kate's laptop oops moment and D.J.'s interview philosophy (or you could skip to 5:14), we sit down with one of the greatest interviewers of our generation, Chris Myers of Fox Sports.  You've seen him covering NASCAR, NFL play-by-play, MLB on Fox, The Masters, The Olympics, Boxing, the Cubs on Marquee Sports Network.  You name it, he's done it.   We start from the beginning on how Chris worked his way onto the radio as a teenager and asked Muhhamad Ali and Don Shula questions. We talk about how education and working in local tv played an important role in preparing him for the national stage first at ESPN and on to Fox Sports.   Moving on, we talk about preparation and the mindset of covering life-changing events beyond sports (notably the World Series Earthquake in 1989 and the Olympic Park Bombing of 1996) and the controversy behind being the first interview of O.J. Simpson after his murder trial and wrongful death suit.   We take a lighter turn and talk about his appearances in movies as a sportscaster, including one day receiving a random phone call from a casting director and legendary Director/Producer, Oliver Stone (yes, about Any Given Sunday).  We move on and talk about covering NASCAR and D.J. had to fanboy and ask about working with the legendary Jeff Gordon and the dynamic working together.   If you can't tell, we had a lot of fun recording this episode and we're grateful that Chris was able to take time out of his busy schedule.  If you watch Fox Sports or NASCAR on Fox, you'll see him at some point.  Don't forget to give him a follow on social media:   Twitter  Instagram You need to check out the video for this episode.  Subscribe to our YouTube channel and check it out!
