An interview with Gloria Chavez, chief of Border Patrol's RGV sector

BROWNSVILLE, Texas - Gloria Chavez, chief of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley sector, was keynote speaker at a recent Women in Leadership Luncheon.The event was hosted jointly by the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce and Athena International, and held at the Brownsville Events Center.Brownsville Chamber CEO Esmy Villarreal said the luncheon was held to “celebrate exemplary leadership and honor those who develop, empower and encourage the inclusion of women.”After the event, Chavez gave an interview to the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service. The interviews are attached.BiographyChief Chavez, a 27-year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol and the highest-ranking female agent in the agency, officially took over as the chief of the RIO GRANDE Valley Sector on October 9, 2022.The Brownsville-area native has held multiple executive leadership positions.
