An Ohio veteran opens up about a suicide attempt, coming home from war and life-saving therapy

If you read Danny Eakins resume, you'd immediately say, 'Now, that's a life of service to others.'   He rose to the rank of Major in the U.S. Military, led a tank platoon in some 300 combat missions in Iraq,  he's Governor DeWine's Team Leader for the National Governor's Challenge to Prevent Suicide among Veterans, Service Members and Families, an appointee to the Franklin County Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board and Danny is also a frequent public speaker on behalf of veterans’ advocacy.  He's  recently remarried and enjoying life as a step-father too.   What his resume doesn't say (or anyone's for that matter) is why he's such a fierce advocate for mental health and suicide prevention. It's because he's walked that path of a suicide attempt, loneliness, physical and mental pain, but found professional help and a supportive community to persevere through dark times.
