“Is your life lacking evidence of the power of God? Not power in the sense that you’re a superhero or that life is easy, but real, biblical power from God. Power to overcome sin, power to preach the gospel, power to love your neighbor! Jesus says in Acts: 1-8 'But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.' The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God that comes from the Father and allows us to know Jesus. (John 15:26) Many Christians have the Holy Spirit living inside of them, but their heart and mind need to be renewed to this truth. They are unaware of their access to the Holy Spirit and that God desires to fill them afresh with His Spirit time and time again. It’s a gift from God meant to empower us to live and serve the Lord and others. You don’t have to jump through a bunch of hoops to receive the Holy Spirit and experience the power of God. In reality, all that is needed is a humble heart that earnestly desires to experience more of God. If you find yourself in this humble state of asking the Lord to fill you afresh, you can pray something like this: Lord, I desire to know more of You. I’m tired of living by my strength. I want to be empowered by Your Holy Spirit so that I can see Jesus more clearly, and that I can be a bold vessel that proclaims Your love and truth to the world around me. Thank you Lord for Your love and that the blood of Jesus washes me clean so that my body can now be a dwelling place for Your Holy Spirit to live inside. Fill me now I ask, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
