Analysis: Midterm election takes shape following Ohio Primary vote

from Sound of Ideas · host Ideastream Public Media

Ohio Primary results The pivotal midterm elections have snapped into focus after the conclusion of the largely predictable results in the Ohio primary. Voters will decide the next governor between Republican Vivek Ramaswamy, Democrat Amy Acton and Libertarian Don Kissick. All the other statewide executive offices will also be up for grabs as the current officeholders are term-limited. Sherrod Brown will attempt to return to the Senate. He will face Jon Husted in November. It's a race being watched nationally and will draw huge spending The biggest questions of the night were in school and other issue races where taxpayers were asked to consider increases to funding. It was a tough night for many school districts across Northeast Ohio as voters turned back a number of levy requests including in Mentor. But Lakewood and Lorain City Schools passed levies. Districts who turned to earned-income taxes instead of property taxes found voters largely against that funding method including in Parma and New Philadelphia. We're going to talk about some of the results of the primary in the first part of the show, including voters in Richland County upholding a ban on utility-scale solar and wind projects in most townships there.
