Anchored Through Change | Pastor Chad Reis

from C4 Church Hawaii · host C4ChurchHawaii

Everything changes. Buildings, seasons, styles, and even the people around us. So what do we hold onto when God is the one leading us into something new? As C4 Church steps into its anniversary weekend, Pastor Chad takes us through the seasons of our church and then straight into Hebrews 13, where a seasoned church was caught between two dangers: the pull to retreat into the familiar past, and the quiet drift away from what they'd been given. There's a third way: not frozen, not drifting, but anchored. This message walks through why our anchor holds, where that anchor is actually tied, and what it sets a church free to do. An anchor was never meant to keep a ship in the harbor. It's what keeps you from being lost when you finally leave it. We don't anchor to a season. We anchor to a Savior.Discussion Questions:Pastor Chad opened with a trip back through the seasons of our church. What was your own "golden age" season, the one you'd go back to if you could? What made it so good? You can share about your personal life or church life. The message made the point that Jesus is unchanging not because He's frozen but because He's finished the work. The priests stood because the work was never done. Jesus sat down. What difference does a seated Savior make in something you're still working hard to earn or prove?Drift is quiet. Nobody feels themselves drifting; you only notice after you've already moved. Look back over the last year of your life. Is there an area where you've drifted without ever deciding to move? Hebrews 6 says the anchor doesn't drop to the seafloor, it runs upward, into the throne room where Jesus already is. Be honest with each other: what are you actually anchored to right now? A season, a role, a relationship, a version of yourself you're afraid to lose? What would it cost you if that thing changed?Humble, hungry, healthy, smart, supernatural. If those five are the rope, which strand is strongest in your life right now and which one is fraying? Name one thing you'll do this week to strengthen the thin one, and name the person in this room who gets to ask you about it.
