Andersonville Prison: American Auschwitz w/ Dark Discoveries Podcast
from History Goon · host Kevin Carleton
JUST A HEADS UP: This is a fairly long episode. We recorded it over the course of 2 days and Jimbo got sucked into the void (had a massive thunderstorm and Tornado sirens) and he couldn't back on for the second half. Also this one has some pretty horrible stuff in it soooo...Join Dustin, Jimbo (2 of the hosts of Dark Discoveries) and myself as we travel into an outer ring of Hell that sprung up in the middle a field in Georgia. Andersonville Prison was originally designed to hold about 5,000 men. It was 16 ½ acres in size. At it’s peak it was the holding ground for over 30,000 Union Troops and was expanded to about 26 ½ acres. Which still isn’t enough room. Do you want to hear stories of some of the worst treatment men have given to their fellow countrymen? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a muddy field in the middle of Georgia in the summer with nowhere to hide from the heat? How about dying from diseases that are so easily preventable that we basically joke about them when we talk about pirates? Then there’s the deadline… Go find Dark Discoveries Podcast anywhere fine podcasts are sold, give them a like and follow!
