However, Stander soon grew bored with his job and started robbing banks in the 1970s as a way to get an adrenaline rush. Stander would fly to other cities in South Africa over his lunch break, put on a disguise of a fake mustache and wig, calmly rob a bank, then return to work and even help investigate the very robberies he had just committed! He managed to pull off a string of these lunchtime bank jobs for years without getting caught.
