He grew up wanting to be a police officer like his father and achieved that goal quickly, rising to the rank of captain by age 26. However, Stander soon grew bored with his job and started robbing banks in the 1970s as a way to get an adrenaline rush. Stander would fly to other cities in South Africa over his lunch break, put on a disguise of a fake mustache and wig, calmly rob a bank, then return to work and even help investigate the very robberies he had just committed! He managed to pull off a string of these lunchtime bank jobs for years without getting caught. Things I Learned Last Night is an educational comedy podcast where best friends Jaron Myers and Tim Stone talk about random topics and have fun all along the way.
