Andrea Steinkamp: "Endings Are But Beginnings" (Sermon for June 1, 2025)

"God has put all things under Christ’s feet and made Christ, as the rule of everything, the head of the church, and the church is Christ’s body; it’s the fullness of the One who fills all of creation." - Ephesians 1:22-23Friends,As we move into the last Sunday of Easter season, we mark the ascension of Jesus. I like to think of the Ascension as the ending that was the beginning of the becoming of the church. It was the ending that had to happen for the Holy Spirit to descend upon the apostles and the church to be bon on Pentecost (which we'll celebrate together next Sunday).Endings are hard. They can be frightening and disorienting and immobilizing, but sometimes they are the only way forward.Thank goodness the Ascension was not only an ending, but a promise that the One who fills all of creation will accompany us along the way.We'll explore all of that together, and more, come Sunday.See you there,Pastor Andrea
