Andrew Walters' Long Road Back | Cleveland Guardians News

Guardians pitcher Andrew Walters faces another brutal setback after UCL surgery with an internal brace, sidelining him for 10-12 months and likely missing most of the 2027 season. Just 25, Walters had a breakout 2024 debut and playoff contributions, but injuries have derailed his progress—shoulder stiffness, a torn lat, and now elbow inflammation. Drafted by Cleveland in 2023, he showed elite stuff (98 mph fastball) and postseason poise, making him a key bullpen hope. This latest blow is crushing for a player who’s been sidelined too often, despite flashes of brilliance that made fans believe he could be a cornerstone.
