Social activist Angela Garbes, author of the upcoming book ESSENTIAL LABOR: Mothering as Social Change, joins Jessi to discuss the essential work of caretaking. Caring for a child, a parent, or a spouse while keeping up a career was a challenge even before the pandemic. But now? It’s a crisis. So many caretakers, especially women, have dropped out of the workforce because it’s just too much.
