It was a driving adventure in our station wagon with a luggage carrier crafted by my dad. There were stays at many a Howard Johnson's and, as kids, we loved their swimming pools and restaurants (yes to silver dollar pancakes). You'll also learn why our adventures never quite led us to Plymouth Rock or Disneyland.
