Anhui Orchestra announces inaugural season

For the first time in its nearly 70-year history, the Hefei-based Anhui Orchestra has announced its inaugural concert season at the Baixi Theatre.Unveiled this morning during a press conference and open rehearsal, the 2025 season will comprise twelve concerts, four of which will be led by the orchestra’s newly appointed music director, Hu Yongyan—a Yale graduate—at the theatre’s main hall, now the orchestra’s new home. The remaining concerts will feature performances by the Anhui Chinese Orchestra, which is affiliated with the Anhui Orchestra. The season runs through November.The season opens this Saturday afternoon with a concert conducted by Hu Yongyan featuring music by Tchaikovsky and pianist Tan Xiaotang.Founded in 1956, the Anhui Orchestra and its Chinese orchestra are part of the Anhui Song and Dance Company.Filmed on July 15, 2025.
