Animal Welfare & Advocacy: Tails of Hope India Podcast – Voices for the Voiceless | Season1, Episode 2 (Part 1) Varda Mehrotra – Samayu Foundation

🐾 Tails of Hope Podcast – Episode 2, Part 1 🎙️ Guest: Varda Mehrotra – Co-founder, Samayu Topic: Fighting for Animal Welfare, Sustainability & Social Justice On this episode of Tails of Hope – Voices for the Voiceless, Hope for Every Paw, we are honored to have Varda Mehrotra, a visionary leader and advocate for animal rights, sustainability, and policy reform in India. As the Co-founder of Samayu, Varda has spent years working at the intersection of animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and social justice. Her work has helped transform policies, empower grassroots activists, and create lasting impact for the voiceless animals in India. But what sparked her journey? When asked what inspired her to dedicate her life to animal welfare, Varda shared how witnessing animal cruelty as a child deeply affected her. That moment ignited a passion to speak up for those who couldn’t. Over the years, she turned that passion into action, advocating for policies that protect animals and drive systemic change. Through Samayu, Varda has worked to: ✅ Reform laws for better animal protection and welfare. ✅ Educate and empower communities to take action. ✅ Promote plant-based solutions for a more sustainable world. However, the challenges remain immense. In this episode, Varda sheds light on the biggest issues facing animals today: ❌ Lack of Strong Laws – The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (1960) is outdated and ineffective. ❌ Factory Farming & Cruelty – Millions of animals suffer in factory farms with little to no welfare measures. ❌ Public Apathy – A lack of awareness and empathy worsens the plight of strays and farm animals. Varda strongly believes that policy changes, public awareness, and grassroots activism are the key to solving these issues. Varda emphasized that their biggest challenge is sustained funding and public support. Every day, Samayu fights for animals through research, advocacy, and grassroots action, but they can’t do it alone. 👉 If this episode resonates with you, you can help in many ways: 🐾 Donate – Your contribution helps fund legal battles, campaigns, and rescues. 🐾 Volunteer – Help create awareness, support legal reforms, and spread the message. 🐾 Adopt a Plant-Based Lifestyle – Small dietary changes can make a huge impact. 🐾 Share This Episode – The more people know, the bigger the movement grows. 👉 To support Samayu, visit: www.samayu.org As we wrapped up Episode 2, Part 1, Varda left us with a powerful message: "Change doesn’t start with governments or big organizations.
