Anita Baker: Porirua mayor confirms there will be no increase to rates

from Heather du Plessis-Allan Drive · host Newstalk ZB

The Porirua City Council is projecting an average zero percent rates rise, not taking into account water bills. It's down from a previous proposal of four percent.  There may still be small increases, and even decreases for some ratepayers.  Mayor Anita Baker says the recent QV valuations changed the way utility properties were rated, which brought projected rates down. "It means 0 percent for our ratepayers, but they are going to be paying more next year for their water rates - so they are going to be paying an extra $4.40 a week on their Porirua rate."  LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
