Anna Ross - Founder, Kester Black

from Super Creative

In today’s episode I’m talking to the awesome Anna Ross – founder of Kester Black - Australasia’s most ethical beauty brand, making nail polish that’s kind on you and kind on the planet. Plenty of beauty brands claim to be ethical. But at Kester Black, sustainability and social justice aren’t just glossy marketing buzzwords. Anna is on a mission to redefine the industry standard – not only creating products that are vegan, sustainable, cruelty free and carbon neutral but by constantly striving to challenge the norm and initiate a new code of ethics for cosmetics that other brands can follow too. I’ve been aware of Kester Black for a while now and have used their nail polishes in the past however I always associated it as an Australian brand so you can imagine my delight when one day on an Instagram-deep-dive I discovered that not only was Anna, a kiwi – but she’d recently relocated back home and was now based in Wanaka. I reached out expecting that she would be way too important to talk to me but straight away she said yes which I obviously thought was so cool. Anna is a bona-fide cosmetics queen and has picked up loads of accolades along the way, including winning the Telstra Australian Young Business Women of the Year award in 2016. This is my longest conversation to date (sorry you guys they just seem to be getting longer and longer!!!) because it’s because Anna’s story is SO interesting – she is so wonderfully honest and candid about her business journey and I just hung off every word. I found her super inspiring and very funny, and I hope you love this conversation as much as I did.
